In September 2013, CIBC, TD and Aimia Canada Inc. (who owns and operates the Aeroplan program) announced an agreement that will allow both CIBC and TD to offer Aeroplan credit cards to their clients.

We also announced that approximately half of CIBC’s existing Aerogold Visa credit card portfolio will be acquired by TD. The CIBC Aerogold Visa credit card accounts transitioning to TD are primarily held by clients with CIBC Aerogold Visa credit cards only. However, if you have any other bank products or services with CIBC, these will not be impacted.

The majority of CIBC Aerogold Visa cardholders will receive a letter from CIBC by mid-February, letting them know if their credit card account is transitioning to TD or not. Following that CIBC communication, transitioning cardholders will receive a communication from TD with additional information. Transitioning cardholders will also be notified through statement messages and online messages.

If you receive a letter notifying you that your credit card will not be transitioning to TD, you will continue business as usual and your credit card account will not be transitioning to TD systems.

If you receive a letter notifying you that your credit card account will be transitioning to TD, your credit card account transition to TD systems is currently scheduled for mid-2014 and you will receive a TD Aeroplan credit card in the mail. Both CIBC and TD are committed to a smooth transition and there is no action required on your part. You will be notified well in advance of the specific timing of the transition and any changes that might affect you.

Your Aeroplan membership is separate from your credit card and is not impacted by any change to your credit card account. Aeroplan Miles you have already earned remain in your Aeroplan account and can be redeemed as usual under the terms and conditions of the Aeroplan program. You can continue to use your card and earn Aeroplan Miles on every purchase you make as you do today.

Nothing. If your credit card is transitioning to TD but you have any other bank products or services with CIBC, your additional products and services will not be impacted.

If you receive a letter notifying you that your credit card will not be transitioning to TD, you will continue business as usual and receive support from the CIBC call centres and branches.

If you receive a letter notifying you that your credit card account will be transitioning to TD, there will also be no changes for now to the servicing of your credit card account. CIBC will continue to maintain your credit card account information and service your credit card account until it is transitioned to TD. You can get information about your credit card account from CIBC in whichever way you do today—whether that’s in-branch, online, or by phone, including mobile if you are enrolled in CIBC Mobile Banking®.

If you receive a letter notifying you that your credit card will not be transitioning to TD, you will continue business as usual and be able to access your credit card account through CIBC.com.

And rest assured that you will only incur one annual fee. There will be no additional annual fee charged when your credit card account is transitioned to TD.

Nothing! There are no immediate changes for you. You can keep using your current CIBC Aerogold Visa credit card and earn Aeroplan Miles. You will be notified well in advance of any changes. Both CIBC and TD are committed to a smooth transition.
