How to receive a wire transfer

To receive a wire transfer to your CIBC bank account, you must give the sender the following information:

Bank address	The complete branch address of your transit — street, city, province, postal code, country
SWIFT BIC code	CIBCCATT

Transit	Your 5-digit branch transit, including all zeros
Beneficiary account number	Your 7-digit account number
Beneficiary name	Your complete name as it appears on your statement
Beneficiary address	Your complete address as it appears on your statement — street, city, province or state, postal code or zip code, country

How to send a wire transfer

To send a wire transfer from your CIBC account, you will need to obtain the banking information from your recipient.

Please reach out to the recipient for their banking information.

The information required to send a wire transfer varies by country and includes information such as:

About the payment

The amount in the applicable currency

Recipient’s information

Recipient’s full name. The spelling should match the name on the recipient’s bank account exactly.
Recipient’s complete civic address, including street name, city, province or state, postal or zip code, and country. P.O. boxes aren’t accepted.

Recipient’s bank details

Recipient’s account number (excluding spaces and special characters)
Transit or branch number of the recipient’s account (if applicable)
The complete name and address of the recipient’s financial institution (including postal or zip code)
Depending on the country or territory you’re sending money to, the following information may also be necessary:
- Canada: the 3-digit Canadian financial institution number and 5-digit branch transit number of the recipient’s account, as well as the Swift Code or BIC
- United States: the ABA routing number and Swift Code or BIC
- Mexico: the CLABE and Swift Code or BIC
- Other countries and territories: the IBAN and Swift Code or BIC

Reason for the transfer

This can include details such as an invoice number, the purpose of the payment, reference numbers, etc.
