In the event of an emergency, call CIBC Travel Assistance

CIBC Travel Assistance is available for you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

From Canada or the U.S., call 1-800-848-8454

From all other locations, call collect 1-416-340-7124

You must notify CIBC Travel Assistance

  • prior to receiving any medical treatment,
  • if you must cancel, interrupt or delay your trip, or
  • if you experience any emergency

Failure to notify CIBC Travel Assistance will delay the processing and payment of your claim and may limit the amount of your claim payment.


How to file a claim

CIBC Emergency Travel Medical InsuranceCIBC Baggage and Personal Effects Insurance, and CIBC Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance

  • Call CIBC Travel Assistance at 1-800-848-8454 within 30 days of occurrence to report a claim and obtain a claim form
  • Review and complete the claim form and mail it to the address provided in the form along with any required documentation that is outlined in the Certificate of Insurance
  • All claims must be submitted through a claim form in writing within 60 days of the date the service was provided or the emergency situation occurred

CIBC Trip Cancellation/Interruption Insurance

  • Call CIBC Travel Assistance at 1-800-848-8454 no later than the first business day following the cause for cancellation of your trip to report the cancellation and obtain a claim form. Call CIBC Travel Assistance immediately if you must interrupt or delay your trip to report the interruption or delay and obtain a claim form.
  • Review and complete the claim form and mail it to the address provided in the form along with any required documentation that is outlined in the Certificate of Insurance
  • All claims must be submitted through a claim form in writing within 60 days of the date the service was provided or the emergency situation occurred
