How to pay bills online or from your mobile device

Add a payee and pay a bill

What you’ll need

  • A CIBC bank account


What you do

  • Sign on to CIBC Mobile Banking®,  CIBC Online Banking®  or the CIBC Mobile Banking® App

  1. Select “Bill Payments”
  2. Select “Add Payee” and search for the name of the person or company you want to pay. Select the bill you want to pay from the list of results. 
  3. Enter the account number of your bill
  4. Tell us how you’d like to receive your verification code
  5. Enter the verification code in the Identity Verification box and select “Continue”
  6. Choose “Pay this bill” and enter the amount

Online Banking
  1. Select “Pay Bills”
  2. Select “Add Payee” and search for the name of the person or company you want to pay. Select the bill you want to pay from the list of results. 
  3. Enter the account number of your bill
  4. Tell us how you’d like to receive your verification code
    Did you know?
    A verification code protects you with an extra layer of security. Before you complete your transaction, we’ll send you a 6-digit verification code by text message, email or voice call. You’ll enter that code to complete the transaction. 
    Note: For account security, we’re no longer sending one-time verification codes to personal or free email services.
  5. After you enter the verification code in the Identity Verification box, select “Continue”
  6. Choose “Pay this bill” and enter the amount. Your payment will be processed within 2 business days.

Remove a payee from your account

What you’ll need

  • A CIBC bank account


What you do

  • Sign on to CIBC Mobile Banking®,  CIBC Online Banking®  or the CIBC Mobile Banking®  App

  1. Select “Bill Payments”
  2. Select the pencil icon next to the bill you want to remove. Select “Delete”.
  3. Enter the account number of your bill

If you delete a payee from your list, any future-dated or recurring bill payments will also be deleted.


Online Banking
  1. Select “Pay Bills”
  2. Choose “Add/Edit Payee”. Select the bill you want to remove. Then select “Delete”.
  3. Enter the account number of your bill

Delete an upcoming bill payment

What you’ll need

  • A CIBC bank account


What you do

  • Sign on to CIBC Mobile Banking®,  CIBC Online Banking®  or the CIBC Mobile Banking®  App

  1. Select “Upcoming Transactions”, then select “Bills and Transfers”
  2. Select the upcoming payment that you want to remove, then select “Delete”
  3. Review the bill payment details, then select “Delete Payment”

Online Banking

  1. Select “Pay Bills", then select “View Upcoming and Past Payments”
  2. Select the upcoming payment that you want to remove, then select “Delete”
  3. Review the bill payment details, then select “Delete Payment”

You can delete an upcoming payment made today until 9:30 pm ET. Payments made after 9:30 pm ET today can be deleted until 9:30 pm ET tomorrow.

  1. Select “Bill Payments”
  2. Select the bill you’d like to pay
  3. Enter the amount, account, date and frequency from the drop-down menu
  4. Select “Next”, then select “Set Up Payments”

Online Banking
  1. Select “Pay Bills”
  2. Select “Set up a payment”
  3. Enter the payee, amount, account and the frequency from the drop-down menu
  4. Select “Next”, then select “Set Up Payments”
