Make payments your way

It's easy to add your CIBC credit or credit card to a mobile wallet. A mobile wallet, sometimes called a digital wallet or e-wallet, securely stores your payment details so you can make purchases without using a physical card.

You can add cards to Apple Pay and Google Pay using the CIBC Mobile Banking App, or use the mobile apps provided by Apple and Google. If you want to use Samsung Pay with your CIBC card, you can do so through Samsung's app.

You can schedule recurring bill payments in a few easy steps.

CIBC Mobile Banking App

1. Select “Bill payments”
2. Select "Pay a Bill"
3. Enter the amount, account, date and frequency
4. Select “Next”

CIBC Online Banking

1. Select “Bill Payments”
2. Select “Set Up Payments”
3. Enter the payee, amount, account and frequency
4. Select “Next”

Recurring bill payments are set up through online and mobile banking by selecting a payee and an amount to send, while pre-authorized debits require you to give a merchant or service provider your transit and account number so they can debit your account automatically.

If you give a company your CIBC Advantage Debit Card® information, this is a Visa Debit transaction, not a pre-authorized debit.

With Interac Flash, you can tap to pay up to $250 per transaction at stores in Canada. For purchases above this limit, you'll need to insert your card and enter your PIN. However, limits for contactless transactions may vary by retailer.

You can use your CIBC Credit or CIBC Advantage Debit Card — the physical card or in Apple Pay®, Samsung Pay® or Google Pay™ mobile wallets — to make a contactless payment for your fare at participating transit fare devices. Not all transit systems support contactless payments, and some transit systems work differently than others.

Transit systems in many other large cities internationally also allow contactless payments.

No, your card is a debit card, not a credit card.

• The Interac logo means you can shop at stores in Canada using your physical card or mobile wallet. 
• The Visa* Debit logo means you can use it to shop online, in-app, internationally and to make pre-authorized payments.

All purchases you make with your card are debited directly from your CIBC bank account.

You can schedule recurring or future-dated payments through CIBC Online Banking®. When you sign on to your account, go to the navigation panel under "Transfers” and follow the steps.

The CIBC Advantage Debit Card includes both the Interac Debit and Visa Debit payment networks, so you may see 2 separate cards listed in your mobile wallet app.

When using your card to make a purchase with Apple Pay, Google Pay or Samsung Pay, you need to select the debit card that fits your situation:

• Select Interac Debit for purchases made in-store in Canada at participating merchants that accept Interac Flash.
• Select Visa Debit for purchases made in-store outside of Canada, or within apps and websites, everywhere Visa Debit is accepted.
