Susan Rimmer leads CIBC’s Commercial Banking and Wealth Management business in Canada, delivering high-touch, relationship-focused banking and wealth management solutions to mid-market companies, entrepreneurs and high-net-worth individuals and families. She also oversees CIBC Caribbean, which provides banking services across 10 markets in the region.
A seasoned financial services executive, Susan most recently served as the head of Global Corporate and Investment Banking for CIBC Capital Markets. Prior to this, she held several leadership positions within Capital Markets, including Managing Director and Head of Global Corporate Banking, and Managing Director and Head of Global Debt Capital Markets. Before joining CIBC, Susan spent 15 years in global capital markets and investment banking at another major U.S. financial institution in London, U.K., and Toronto.
Susan has been recognized as one of WXN’s “Top 100 Most Powerful Women in Canada.” She has served as Co-Chair of the CIBC Employee Giving Campaign, Executive Sponsor for the Capital Markets Diversity and Inclusion Committee, and as a board member of both CIBC-Mellon and CIBC World Markets Inc. Currently, she is the Executive Sponsor for CIBC United Way Hockey Day, an annual fundraiser supporting communities in need. Susan also serves on the board of the Michael Garron Hospital Foundation and is a member of the Queen’s University Smith School of Business Advisory Council and the advisory council for Versafi/Women in Capital Markets.
Susan holds an MBA from INSEAD, Fontainebleau, France, and an Honours Bachelor of Arts from Queen’s University, Kingston, Ontario.
