As Senior Executive Vice-President and Group Head of CIBC Capital Markets, Christian leads the bank’s Capital Markets strategic business unit — a leading provider of mergers and acquisitions advisory, debt and equity financing, corporate banking, trading, hedging and research.
Since joining CIBC in 2008, Christian has held senior roles across capital markets; most recently, he served as Deputy Head of CIBC Capital Markets and previously led the Global Markets and Direct Financial Services teams, which included Simplii Financial and CIBC Investor’s Edge.
Christian began his career in capital markets as an options trader and structurer. He later served as Managing Director at Dresdner Kleinwort in London, where he held a number of senior positions across Global Markets. He then became Managing Director at Merrill Lynch in London, responsible for sales and structuring.
Christian has a long-standing commitment to giving back to the community. From 2012 to 2014, he served as Chair of the Capital Markets United Way Campaign, and he served on the Board of Directors of the Children’s Aid Foundation of Canada from 2016 to 2022. Most recently, he served on the Board of Directors of Capitalize for Kids.
Christian holds a Master of Science in Risk Management and Financial Instruments and a Master of Finance from the Institut d’Administration des Entreprises in France.
