Stephen Scholtz oversees CIBC’s Legal function, providing independent legal advice and transactional, regulatory and litigation support across all lines of business globally, as well as support for Treasury and Corporate Development activities.
Since joining our bank in 2006, Stephen has held a number of leadership roles, most recently as Senior Vice-President and General Counsel, Canada. With extensive leadership experience, including 20 years at CIBC, Stephen has played a key role in guiding our bank through complex legal and regulatory environments. Prior to joining CIBC, Stephen practised law at two leading Canadian firms, where he advised on legal, regulatory and governance matters.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Social Sciences and Bachelor of Laws from the University of Ottawa, and is a member of the Law Society of Ontario.
