Other fees (in addition to any transaction fee) include: withdrawals from non-CIBC bank machines (rebated for CIBC Smart Plus Accounts except the 2.5% administration fee on the converted amount of foreign currency ATM withdrawals), wire payments, Interac e-Transfer transactions (the Interac e-Transfer fee is waived for CIBC Smart Accounts, CIBC Smart Plus Accounts and for clients who are enrolled in CIBC Advantage for Youth, CIBC Smart for Students, CIBC Smart for Seniors (on the CIBC Smart Account) and CIBC Advantage for Students (on the CIBC Everyday Chequing Account)) and transactions in foreign currency (including cheques written in currencies other than the account currency).
3 Foreign exchange rates apply. If you are transferring funds in your selected currency, once you have entered an amount to be transferred, the Online Platform will display a quote in your selected currency and the proposed foreign exchange rate for the relevant currency pair. The quote will remain valid until the expiry date and time displayed on the Online Platform (the “Quote Period”). During the Quote Period, you will not be able to initiate another transfer or obtain another quote.
The foreign exchange rate is provided by CIBC. CIBC earns income from the difference (the spread) between the prices at which we buy and sell foreign currency. Our spreads may differ from time to time and can change (without prior notice). This spread is reflected in the quote provided to you on the Online Platform and may be considered to be an indirect cost to you.
If you are transferring funds in Canadian currency, you may be charged additional fees. These fees will be clearly displayed to you before you finalize your funds transfer on the Online Platform.
4 The additional $1.50 service fee is waived for sending Interac e-Transfer transactions. Each Interac e-Transfer transaction you send counts as a transaction for calculating your monthly fee. Maximum dollar amount applies for Interac e-Transfer transactions. For details, review the CIBC Interac e-Transfer Terms and Conditions (PDF, 300 KB) Opens in a new window..
5 CIBC will rebate one non-CIBC ATM withdrawal fee charge; charges from the other financial institution may apply.
6 Earn 2% cash back on purchases, less returns, at merchants classified by the credit card network as grocery stores and supermarkets. Earn 1% cash back on purchases, less returns, at merchants classified by the credit card network as (i) gas service stations and automated fuel-dispensers, (ii) local and suburban commuter transportation in Canada, including subway, streetcar, taxi, limousine and ride-sharing services (excludes merchants that may be classified as travel services or travel bookings such as air transport, car rentals and cruises), (iii) eating places and restaurants, drinking places and fast food restaurants, or (iv) recurring payments that are pre-authorized with a merchant to occur on a regular daily, monthly or annual schedule and classified by the merchants as recurring. All other purchases earn 0.5% cash back. The 2% and 1% cash offers are only available on the first $80,000 in net annual card purchases, meaning all card purchases by all cardholders, at any type of merchant, or $20,000 on grocery stores, supermarkets, gas, service stations and automated fuel-dispensers, commuter transportation, eating and drinking places and restaurants, or on recurring payments; after that, net card purchases at all merchants, including grocery stores, supermarkets, gas, service stations and automated fuel-dispensers, commuter transportation, eating and drinking places and restaurants or on recurring payments will earn cash back at the regular rate of 0.5%. The $80,000 limit and the $20,000 limit will reset to zero after the day your December statement is printed. Terms, conditions and eligible merchant categories may change without notice. Cash back is earned on card purchases less returns and not on cash advances, CIBC Global Money Transfers™, interest, fees, balance transfers, payments and regular CIBC Convenience Cheques. Credits for returns made on your account may result in a deduction of cash back at a higher earn rate, even though the return may relate to a purchase that earned cash back at a lower rate. We may make special offers, including offers to earn cash back on CIBC Global Money Transfers, which may be for a limited period and contain additional terms and conditions.
7 The cash back is accumulated each month, beginning with the January statement and ending with the December statement. Only primary cardholders are permitted to make a cash-back redemption. Authorized users are not eligible to redeem cash-back dollars. The primary cardholder may redeem cash back at any time during the year, provided they have a minimum cash-back balance of $25 at the time the redemption request is made. The minimum cash-back redemption amount is $25. Cash back will be credited to the primary cardholder’s account within 5 days of the date the redemption request is made. Any cash-back amount that is not redeemed by the primary cardholder by the last day of the period covered by your December statement will be automatically redeemed, resulting in your cash-back balance being reset to zero, and applied as a credit on your next statement, or, in limited circumstances, at such other time as may be permitted by CIBC. CIBC is not required to credit your account with cash back earned during a monthly statement period if your credit card account is not open and in good standing at any time during a monthly statement period. Credit card account must also be open and in good standing at the time the cash back is redeemed.
8 Interest rates will change from time to time on at least 30 days prior notice to the primary cardholder. "Purchase" means card purchases less returns and does not include: cash advances, interest, fees, balance transfers, payments and CIBC Convenience Cheques. "Cash" means cash advances, balance transfers and CIBC Convenience Cheques.
9 Cash advances do not earn cash back. Cash advances bear interest from the date they are taken from your credit card account and are subject to available credit and available cash.
