When I arrived in Canada 20 years ago, I faced the daunting challenge of starting over. The journey of a newcomer is one of courage, resilience, and hope. CIBC was the first bank to believe in me, offering me a role on the customer marketing team. Today, as a Senior Director, I’m proud to be part of an organization that champions underrepresented communities, including newcomers to Canada.
What drives me most is the opportunity to make a difference in people’s lives. As co-lead of CIBC’s International Professionals Network, I’ve had the privilege of helping newcomers—immigrants, refugees, and international students—overcome barriers like networking and finding relevant jobs. Programs like national career coaching and Think on Your Feet have empowered thousands with mentorship and skill-building opportunities. Today, we’re proud to have nearly 2,000 mentoring-mentee partnerships within CIBC, and 2,000+ additional impactful collaborations outside through organizations like TRIEC and Jumpstart.
I know firsthand how challenging it can be to build professional connections in a new country. That’s why I’m committed to helping others find the courage and opportunities that shaped my own journey.
