1 The CIBC Smart Account or the CIBC Smart Plus Account monthly fee is rebated for the 24-month offer period. After the offer period, the regular monthly fee applies. The fee rebate is conditional upon your recurring payroll deposit from your employer being deposited into your CIBC Smart Account or CIBC Smart Plus Account. Your recurring payroll must:
i) be deposited into your CIBC Smart Account or CIBC Smart Plus Account within 30 days after you enrol in the CIBC Group Banking Offer; and
ii) continue to be deposited at least monthly into your CIBC Smart Account or CIBC Smart Plus Account for the offer period.
CIBC may re-instate the regular monthly fees on your CIBC Smart Account or CIBC Smart Plus Account if it determines that your payroll isn’t being deposited into your CIBC Smart Account or CIBC Smart Plus Account. The fee rebate applies to the regular CIBC Smart Account or CIBC Smart Plus Account monthly fee. 2 A transaction includes cheques, withdrawals, transfers, pre-authorized payments, bill payments (including CIBC Credit Cards and CIBC Personal Lines of Credit) and debit purchases. For CIBC eAdvantage® Savings Accounts, a transaction doesn’t include transfers to your other CIBC bank account(s) using the transfer function on CIBC Online Banking®, CIBC Mobile Banking®, CIBC Telephone Banking and at CIBC ATMs. For all accounts, transfers to CIBC-branded loans (excluding CIBC Personal Lines of Credit), mortgages and investments (registered and non-registered) are free. “CIBC-branded” means any brand that has CIBC in its name and is offered by CIBC or its Canadian affiliates (and doesn’t include CIBC Bank USA). 3 If you get a CIBC Smart Plus Account, you’ll get an annual fee rebate of up to $139 on an eligible premium CIBC credit card for the primary cardholder and an annual fee rebate of up to $50 for up to 3 additional authorized users. Existing eligible CIBC credit card holders who have already paid the annual fee at the time the CIBC Smart Plus Account was opened will be provided a pro-rated rebate credit. The rebate is also available for credit card holders with the following CIBC credit cards no longer available for new clients:
- CIBC Aventura World Mastercard™;

4 Fees charged by other financial institutions or third parties for using their ATMs and the 2.5% administration fee on the converted amount for foreign currency ATM withdrawals aren’t included in this feature and will be charged to your account. ATM withdrawal amounts may be limited to a maximum dollar withdrawal amount.
5 If you apply for and are approved for CIBC Overdraft Protection Service (COPS), the COPS fee isn’t applicable, however you’ll pay interest on any overdraft amount on your account and overlimit fees if applicable. COPS is available on select CIBC personal bank accounts for clients who meet CIBC’s standard credit criteria.
6 The entire monthly fee is rebated if you maintain a minimum balance at the end of each day during the month of $6,000 in your account or $100,000 in Savings and Investments. Savings and Investments are the following registered and non-registered products held in your name or jointly with other people:
- CIBC chequing account;
- CIBC savings account;
- Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC) issued by CIBC, CIBC Trust Corporation and CIBC Mortgages Inc.;
