Make sure the amount you enter (one-time or recurring) is within your TFSA contribution limit. If you don't know your contribution limit, contact the Canada Revenue Agency. Exceeding your personal contribution room will result in a 1% penalty tax per month for each month you’re over your limit. If you're a non-resident, you'll be subject to a similar tax on your contribution while a non-resident.

Your contribution will be dated today or the next business day. However, funds may take up to 2 business days to be transferred from your deposit account to your TFSA account which will not affect the contribution date. Provincial holidays are considered business days when determining a contribution date. Saturday, Sunday and federal holidays are considered non-business days.

    • La Banque CIBC peut utiliser ces renseignements pour vous identifier, se protéger et vous protéger en cas de fraude ou d’erreur, saisir vos besoins et votre admissibilité aux services, recommander des produits et services particuliers visant à répondre à vos besoins, offrir un service sur une base continue et satisfaire aux exigences juridiques et réglementaires.     • You are applying for a CIBC Tax Free Savings Account (the "Plan") and are asking CIBC to please file an election with the Minister of National Revenue to register your Plan as a Tax-Free Savings Account under the Income Tax Act (Canada), and, if applicable, the income tax legislation of the Province indicated in the address you provided in this application.
    • CIBC may use this information to identify you, protect us both from fraud and error, understand your needs and eligibility for services, recommend particular products and services to meet your needs, provide ongoing service, and comply with legal and regulatory requirements. (The word "Information" means financial and financially-related information about you, including information to identify you or qualify you for products and services, or information that CIBC needs for regulatory requirements.) This is explained in the CIBC privacy brochure, Your Privacy is Protected, available at any branch or www.cibc.com, which describes how the CIBC group collects, uses, discloses, and retains information about you and the products and services you use.
    • Specific Consents
