What is CIBC Travel Insurance?
CIBC Travel Insurance plans can help provide financial protection against certain unexpected events that may occur before or during your trip and can reimburse you for:
- Emergency medical care and transportation expenses incurred due to a covered incident while on your trip
- Expenses to replace baggage and personal effects that are lost, stolen, damaged or delayed while travelling
- Trip cancellations or interruptions if you:
- Have a covered illness or injury forcing you to cancel or interrupt your trip
- Miss your departure due to a delay of a common carrier transportation or automobile, provided you allowed enough time for check-in as required by your travel supplier
- Miss 25% or more of your trip due to adverse weather or a natural disaster
- Additional meals and accommodations up to $300 per day, to a maximum of $1,000
Three plans are available
CIBC Travel Medical Insurance Plan
Provides emergency medical coverage up to $10 million, which includes reimbursement for eligible hospital and physician’s bills, as well as out-of-pocket expenses up to $3,500, resulting from a covered illness or injury while travelling. CIBC Trip Cancellation & Trip Interruption Insurance Enhanced Plan
Provides coverage which includes reimbursement for eligible travel costs if your trip is cancelled or interrupted due to a covered reason, up to the amount purchased — up to $50,000 per person — as well as coverage for replacing baggage and personal items up to $2,000, if lost, delayed or damaged while travelling. CIBC Comprehensive Travel Insurance Plan

Before you request a quote
Consider the following before getting a quote:
- CIBC Travel Insurance coverage is available only for CIBC clients who are Canadian residents, covered by a valid Canadian provincial or territorial health insurance plan.
- Calculate your total trip costs, including all pre-paid, non-refundable expenses such as plane tickets, hotel accommodation, attraction tickets. This ensures you receive an accurate quote and the right protection for your trip.

• Coverage for my eligible emergency medical expenses
• Coverage if my trip is cancelled, interrupted or my baggage is lost or delayed
- Provide your trip details:
• Number of travellers
• Date of birth for each traveller
• Total costs of your trip per traveller, if applicable
• Your province of residence
• Travel departure and return dates
- Select the coverage option that’s right for you.
- Review the Pre-Existing Medical Conditions and Stability Period information.
• Check the proper boxes before continuing

After purchasing CIBC Travel Insurance, your plan documents will be sent to the email address provided during the quote process. While confirmation emails typically arrive within minutes, delivery may take 24 to 48 hours in some instances.
If your travel plans change after purchasing a travel insurance plan

Note that if existing coverage has expired, a 48-hour waiting period applies. Any sickness that you experience during the first 48 hours after purchasing coverage is not covered, but injuries are eligible for coverage.
However, if you have existing coverage that has not expired, either from a CIBC Travel Insurance policy you purchased or on your CIBC credit card, and you want to purchase additional days of coverage, no waiting period applies.
You also have 10 days after purchase to return your Certificate of Insurance for a full refund, provided you have not departed on your trip and a claim has not been incurred.
