Nathan Thornton

Managing Director and Region Head, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba

Nathan brings almost 30 years of Financial Services industry experience to his role as Managing Director and Region Head of CIBC Wood Gundy for Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. He is responsible for directing and executing on strategic business priorities, along with effectively managing the business operations within the region.

Nathan’s career with CIBC Wood Gundy began as a sales assistant in Nanaimo, British Columbia, quickly progressing to running his own practice as a Portfolio Manager while earning his CIM and FCSI designations. Leadership responsibilities began in 2003, culminating in a move to Calgary in 2017. This combination of experiences allows him to lead from a place of understanding, working toward outcomes that will ultimately enhance the experience for our clients, our advisors and all CIBC stakeholders.

Married to Michelle for more than 30 years and with 2 grown children, Nathan enjoys outdoor pursuits including hiking, biking and walking their dog, Gus.
