Jean-Frédéric (JF) Gagné

Jean-Frédéric (JF) Gagné is the Head of CIBC Family Office, bringing deep experience in wealth management, client advisory, strategic leadership and private markets. In this role, he leads a team across Canada that supports the relationship managers within CIBC Private Wealth and Banking as they deliver integrated advice and highly personalized solutions designed to help ultra-high-net-worth individuals and families manage, preserve, and transition wealth across generations.

JF and his team across Canada are committed to helping clients navigate complexity with clarity and confidence by building enduring relationships, and delivering thoughtful, comprehensive support tailored to each family’s unique goals and values. They achieve this by working closely with specialists across investment management, estate and trust planning, private banking, tax strategy, and philanthropy.

Prior to joining CIBC, JF served as Managing Director and Head of Transaction Execution at BDG & Partners, one of Canada’s leading middle-market private equity firms. Before that, he was Managing Director of the Global Family Office Group at Scotiabank, where he led relationship development strategy across Quebec.

JF’s international career spans nearly a decade in the Asia-Pacific region, where he held senior leadership roles across three family office mandates. He served as Managing Director and Chief Investment Officer of a French family office headquartered in Singapore, and as Executive Vice President of both a Belgian and an Australian family office, each based in Hong Kong. Across these roles, he focused extensively on direct private equity investing. Earlier in his career, JF worked in investment banking at BMO in Montreal, practiced as a tax attorney at Sullivan & Cromwell in New York, and served as Manager in the Financial Advisory Services practice at Deloitte in Montreal.
