CIBC Electronic Access Agreement
Summary of Changes to the Electronic Access Agreements
We’re updating the Electronic Access Agreement to reflect improvements to our service, and changes to existing features.
The following is a summary of the changes that will take effect on May 31, 2025.
- References to “Personal Verification Questions” have been removed as they’re no longer used in our authentication process.
- Section 7 (Passwords) has been updated to include biometric information (including fingerprint and facial recognition) and multi-factor authentication as permitted elements of your Password to sign on to online banking or access any Services.
- Previous Section 31 (Sharing Business User IDs and Passwords) has been removed. This is no longer required since each Business User within an organization is now provided their own unique User ID.
- Previous Part H (Terms and Conditions for Credit Report Alerts) has been removed as this service will no longer be available as of May 31, 2025. Accordingly, all references to “Credit Report Alerts,” “Credit Report Alerts Service” and “Equifax Canada” have also been removed. You may still access your credit report and credit score for free through online or mobile banking. Learn more about checking your credit score for free.
- Section 63 (Definitions) has been updated so that the terms “Password” and “Verification Process” include biometric information (including fingerprint and facial recognition) and multi-factor authentication processes, respectively.
You don’t need to take any action. By signing on to CIBC Online Banking or Wealth Management Online, you agree to the changes we’ve made to the Electronic Access Agreement.
If you do not agree with the updated terms, you need to immediately stop using online and mobile banking and Wealth Management Online.
