Our focus is on listening to the clients very carefully. We don't believe in a cookie-cutter approach to portfolio construction, and we recognize that every client is going to have a slightly different relationship with risk tolerances, as well as different levels of sophistication as it relates to investment complexity. And then more importantly than that, we seek to be the providers of portfolio solutions that optimize the level of risk in relation to the level of return that's desired.

We realize that the world is never going to be a constant, and unpredictability is going to be a challenge in the market for our investors.

IMR’s (Investment Management Research) edge is really the people that are involved. So the team itself is a distinct advantage for IMR. And so we have investment professionals that have backgrounds in pension consulting, working directly at pension plans or working for asset management firms and having direct investing experience. And the diversity of views that that introduces into our discussions is very, very valuable.

It allows us to be unbiased when we're exploring the world of opportunities. We have a database of thousands of different meetings that we've had with investment managers, all intended to curate the best of the world for our clients.

So several years ago, we were approached by a family that had sold its business, and it was an investment business. So they were very sophisticated with their backgrounds in terms of the level of investment knowledge that they had. One of their goals was to compound their wealth into the future for generational or multigenerational wealth creation. And given the size of their investment and the level of knowledge that they had, there were tremendous options available to them. We were able to put together compelling value for the client and we've been working with this client ever since then.

The strength of the relationship really is the fact that we never treated it as a transactional relationship between a client and a business, but more like a relationship that treated our team as an extension of their own family's team in order to continue to build on their success.
