Trademarks and disclaimers

Gold Bonus Points are earned on card purchases less returns, and not on cash advances, regular Convenience Cheques, balance transfers, fees, interest, payments or Points redemptions. Gold Bonus Points are awarded on receipt of minimum payment due; if your account is in good standing (otherwise they are cancelled). All points are credited to the primary cardholder only.

One Gold Bonus Point is earned on each dollar charged to the card. Bonus (double) points are earned at the same rate on CIBC Gold Travel Service purchases charged to the card other than taxes, insurance, service charges or similar items. Points are not earned on Point redemptions. CIBC Gold Travel Service is operated by an independent travel agency, Merit Travel Group Inc. Registration Numbers: Ontario #50010422, BC #33127/34798/34799 and Quebec #7002238.

Insurance coverage(s) included with CIBC credit cards are underwritten by Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance Company of Canada (RSA). Different cards will have different coverage(s). To learn about included insurance(s), and important information regarding coverage eligibility requirements, benefits, limitations and exclusions, see www.cibc.com/ca/credit-card/agreements-insurance.html and the insurance certificate(s) in your card package. Some insurance(s) require purchases, auto rentals, common carrier fares and other trip costs to be charged to the card to activate coverage (other conditions may also apply). Auto Rental Collision/Loss Damage Insurance (CLDI) is for rentals up to 48 days; and the rental must be charged to the card and the rental agency’s Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) or Loss Damage Waiver (LDW) must be declined. CLDI provides coverage up to the actual cash value (ACV) of the rental vehicle as defined in your insurance certificate. Note that some car rental companies may assess their damages at an amount greater than the ACV of the rental vehicle and you may be liable to the car rental company for the difference. Therefore, before declining the car rental company’s CDW or LDW, you should read carefully and compare the terms of the car rental agreement, the CLDI insurance certificate in your card package and any other insurance you own to decide which coverage best meets your protection needs. Out-of-Province Emergency Travel Medical Insurance is for the first 31 days of a trip; primary cardholder must be age 64 or under; if they are, then their spouse also may be insured if age 64 or under, and dependent children; this insurance does not cover certain pre-existing medical conditions. Certain RSA coverages are “excess insurance” (all other sources of insurance and recovery must be exhausted before benefits are available). For more information, call RSA toll-free at 1-866-363-3338 in Canada, continental U.S. and Hawaii or collect from elsewhere at 905-403-3338.

Savings between 5-25% are available off lowest normal (non-promotional) rate on qualifying rentals. Must quote AWD #C277500 or BCD #A748700 at time of reservation at participating Avis locations worldwide or Budget locations in Canada and the U.S. and charge the rental to your CIBC credit card. (Quebec residents may obtain the discount without using their card, provided they show the card when paying by an alternative acceptable payment option). The discount received depends on fleet availability, location, type of vehicle rented and seasonality. Discounts apply to time and kilometre/mileage charges only. Standard rental conditions apply.

Convenience Cheques and cash advances bear interest from the date they are posted to your CIBC Gold Visa account or taken, respectively and are subject to your available credit and available cash. Convenience Cheques and cash advances do not earn Gold Bonus Points.

Interest rates will change from time to time on at least 30 days prior notice to primary cardholders. “Cash” means cash advances, balance transfers and Convenience Cheques.

The Primary Cardholder may assign and change the Authorized User Spending Limits (or Spending Limits) on the Credit Card Account to any or all Authorized Users by contacting CIBC. The "Card Spending Limits - Cash" is a limit which falls within the "Card Spending Limits - Purchases" and is not additional credit beyond the "Card Spending Limits - Purchases". The Authorized User Spending Limits that the Primary Cardholder may assign to any one Authorized User at any one time cannot exceed the Credit Limit for the Card. CIBC reserves the right to make adjustments to the Authorized User Spending Limits for any and all Authorized Users at any time following a decrease in the Credit Limit and Cash Limit of the Card. "Cash" refers to Cash Advances, Convenience Cheques and Balance Transfers. Capitalized terms used herein have the meaning given to them in the Cardholder Agreement.
