You can make a stop payment on either a cheque or the next pre-authorized debit in a series that you have pending on your accounts within CIBC Online Banking®.

Just sign on to CIBC Online Banking with your card number, password and follow these steps:

1. Select Customer Services.
2. Select "Stop payments."
3. Review the Terms and Conditions.
4. Select I Agree to accept the Terms and Conditions.
5. Select “Stop a Payment on a Cheque” or "Stop a Pre-Authorized Debit."
6. Enter the payment details, including payee and exact amount, for the cheque or pre-authorized payment to be stopped.
7. Select the account from which the payment would have been paid.
8. Choose an account from which to pay the service fee and then select Next.
9. Confirm the information for processing and then select “Stop payment” to complete your request.

If you would like to stop all pre-authorized debits to a company, you need to contact the company directly.

All principal owners and anyone who will sign on the account must bring 2 pieces of valid ID to your appointment.

To schedule an appointment, complete a Meet with us request Opens in a new window.. To complete the request, you’ll have to tell us what you want to meet about, choose a convenient branch and select a date and time. We’ll send you a confirmation email with the name of the person you’re meeting with, and a reminder the day before. Select the link to add the meeting to your personal calendar. If you need to cancel, go to the appointment-booking tool and use the reference number in your confirmation email to cancel.

If you’re re-ordering cheques, you can do it through online banking. Sign on to online banking and select Customer Services on the left side of the page.

You should keep your address up-to-date to continue to receive statements by mail. You can change your address information through CIBC Online Banking, the CIBC Mobile Banking® App, by phone or in person at any CIBC Banking Centre. To change your address through online banking:

1. Sign on.
2. From the menu, select Customer Services.
3. Select "Change your address."

To change your address through the CIBC Mobile Banking App:

1. Sign on.
2. From the menu, select Settings.
3. Select My Profile.

Joint account holders should update their information separately and both parties must follow this process to ensure their information is updated.
