Letter of Credit Applications

By using CIBC's web-based Letter of Credit Application forms, you will no longer need to complete the applications by hand. Our web-based Letter of Credit Applications are user-friendly, fast and simple.

These applications are in Adobe Acrobat format (PDF) and the most current version of Adobe Reader is recommended for completing them. To obtain the free Acrobat Reader required to view and complete the applications, visit the Adobe download site . (Note: A separate window will open. Once the download is completed, close the window.)

Application for Irrevocable Documentary Credit (Import Letter of Credit):

Select the "Apply for Irrevocable Documentary Credit" button.
Print the Instructions for Completion for your reference.
Click on "Proceed to Terms and Conditions".
Thoroughly read the Terms and Conditions. You may also print the page for your reference.
Select "I Accept" to proceed to the Application form.
Complete the Application Form by clicking to check the appropriate boxes and typing information where required.
Print the Application Form, and sign it.
Take the completed and signed Application Form to your Account Manager to submit it for approval and processing.

IF YOU ARE A NEW CLIENT FOR ISSUING LETTERS OF CREDIT -- Please note that it takes a minimum of 2-3 days to set up a new customer in our database, since a Client Profile needs to be created prior to issuance of the Letter of Credit. If you are planning to issue a Letter of Credit for the first time, we recommend that you immediately contact your Account Manager to inform Trade Finance of pertinent information. This will avoid delays in issuance of your Letter of Credit when you make your actual request.

Select the "Amendment of Documentary Letter of Credit" button.
Complete the Application Form by clicking to check the appropriate box(es) and typing information where required.
Print the Application Form, and sign it.
Take the completed and signed Application Form to your Account Manager to submit it for approval and processing.

Select the "Apply for Standby Letter of Credit / Guarantee" button.

Print the Application Form, and sign it.
