CIBC to sponsor Odawa All Native Hockey Tournament

(Ottawa) CIBC is a proud sponsor of this year's 28th annual Odawa All Native Hockey Tournament at the Bell Sensplex in Kanata, Ontario from April 29 to May 1, 2005. The event is hosted by the Odawa Aboriginal Athletics (OAA), a local organization run by and for Aboriginal people through cross cultural recreational activities. CIBC's support has helped the OAA to build this tournament for Aboriginal people locally and nationally.

CIBC is dedicated to providing financial services to First Nations, Inuit and Métis. In addition to offering banking expertise, CIBC also takes an active role in the aboriginal community at both a national and local level, including its sponsorship of the National Aboriginal Achievement Awards.

The 2005 CIBC Odawa All Native Hockey Tournament will serve:

  • 34 Men's and Women's teams from the provinces of Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia and Manitoba, Nunavut and the state of New York
  • Various Aboriginal role models and leaders including the National Chief & Vice Chief of the Assembly of First Nations - Phil Fontaine and Bill Erasmus; former NHL player & 1997 NHL Coach of the Year - Ted Nolan; former NHL player and presently the Assistant Coach of the QMJHL Gatineau Olympiques, role model and motivational public speaker - John Chabot; along with former NHL player Gino Odjick

Every year the Odawa All Native Hockey Tournament gives back to the Odawa community through cross cultural adult/youth recreational development.
