Is it for you?

The CIBC Redeemable GIC could be for you if any of the following apply:

  • You want a secure investment.
  • You want the option to withdraw your funds at any time.

Useful information:

  • Larger balances are generally rewarded with higher interest rates.
  • For terms 1 year and longer, you can manage interest you earn in two ways:
    • Get interest paid to your bank account monthly, quarterly, semi-annually or annually, giving you regular income.
    • Let interest be calculated and added to your principal each year, giving you compounded interest growth.
  • While Redeemable GICs generally pay slightly less interest than non-redeemable GICs, they do allow you to cash out before maturity, at early redemption rates. If you need access to some but not all of your funds, consider placing some money in a Redeemable GIC, and the rest in a Long Term GIC. This maximizes your interest rate earnings, while giving you the liquidity you need. Other GICs offering early access to cash include the CIBC Flexible GIC or CIBC Cashable Escalating Rate GIC.

1 To buy through Telephone Banking, you need to have a CIBC bank account or CIBC GIC already.
