CIBC Ambassador Program

We want to be the bank of choice for your family and friends. The CIBC Ambassador Program makes it easy to help them reach their personal, business or career goals. And when a friend or family member brings a CIBC-related concern to you, use this program to help make it right. The program gives all of us the ability to be CIBC advocates.

It's open to all CIBC employees and CIBC retirees in Canada. Simplii employees can refer CIBC products only.

The CIBC Ambassador Program doesn't replace existing front-line client referral, career referral or complaint escalation processes. It’s for CIBC employees who come across one of these opportunities while outside of their place of work.

CIBC retirees can get rewarded for their advice and solutions referrals once our Ambassador concierge contacts your friend or family member. A sale is not required. Rewards aren’t given for Make It Right or Careers referrals. Advice and solutions referrals are paid out within 90 days. 

The following referral types will not be rewarded:

• Referrals that have already been serviced. For example, if they have already been serviced and purchased a product through another channel, Ambassador submissions won’t be rewarded afterwards.
• Duplicate client referrals. For example, a client interested in multiple products will not be rewarded multiple times if the referral is split. If the same client is referred within 90 days, only 1 reward will be given.

As a CIBC retiree, you are expected to only refer friends and family who you have a personal relationship with and who you believe in good faith are truly interested in obtaining advice and solutions from CIBC.

Clients who opened Smart Accounts, credit cards or both through the Ambassador Program prior to January 31, 2026 will continue to receive the 2-year annual fee rebate until the offer period is complete. The current offer, including cashback, cannot be retroactively applied to Smart Accounts and credit cards opened prior to January 31st, 2026. You can only refer friends and family members to CIBC for any products or advisory services using this program. You must have a personal or family relationship with the person you refer. That person must also be a Canadian resident and legally eligible for Canadian banking services.

You can’t refer your clients, vendors, prospects or business contacts. Doing so may be a violation of Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation. The person you refer can be a new or existing CIBC client. Make sure you have their consent before you share their information with CIBC, so they know we’ll be reaching out to discuss CIBC products and services. If we can’t reach your friend or family member by phone, you, the submitter, will receive an email to inform you of the status.

As a CIBC employee, you are expected to only refer friends and family who you have a personal relationship with and who you believe in good faith are truly interested in obtaining advice and solutions from CIBC.

When referring your friend or family through the Ambassador program, make sure your referral has a genuine interest in getting advice or solutions from CIBC. We risk significant penalties from government regulators if we contact clients who didn’t wish to be contacted.

Your referral is sent to the appropriate business unit. They’ll contact the person you referred within 5 business days of your referral. If we can’t reach your friend or family member by phone, we’ll send them an email on your behalf.

Only active regular full-time and active regular part-time employees are eligible for points. CIBC Retirees, temporary workers, contingent workers and those on a leave of absence are not eligible for points. The following referral types will not be rewarded MomentMakers points:

• If your friend or family member has already been serviced by CIBC, Ambassador submissions can’t be retroactively rewarded. For example, if they have met with a CIBC Financial Services Representative and obtained advice or solutions. If you would like to book the appointment for your friend or family member, refer to the question “Can I book the banking centre appointment for my friend or family member and still qualify for the MomentMakers reward?”
• If your friend or family member needs to be placed in the right offer — meaning client segment — follow existing frontline procedures rather than referring through Ambassador. For example, a personal banking client qualifies for Imperial Service.
• CIBC employees referring other employees.
• Duplicate client referrals. For example, a client interested in multiple products will not be rewarded multiple times if the referral is split. If the same client is referred within 90 days, only 1 reward will be given.

It usually takes 2 to 3 months after a CIBC representative has contacted your referral for the MomentMakers points to be deposited into your MomentMakers account. CIBC Private Wealth services are intended for individuals and families with over $1 million in investable assets. Private Wealth prospects include successful business owners, professionals like doctors and lawyers, corporate executives, professional athletes, entertainers or other prominent Canadians.

To refer your friend or family member directly to your advisor, please include your advisor's name and email address in the description box. The Ambassador team will then connect your friend or family member directly with your advisor. No action is required on your part.

Yes. Once you book the appointment, you must submit an Ambassador referral form with the details of the appointment:

1. The date and time
2. The advisor’s name 
3. Appointment reference number

To earn the MomentMakers reward, tell the advisor to email the Ambassador Concierge Opens your email app.. The advisor needs to provide the following details:

1. Date and time of the appointment
2. Appointment reference number from ECRM
3. Outcome of the meeting

Once our Concierge receives their email, we’ll match that to your Ambassador referral form submission. A sale isn’t required to earn the MomentMakers reward.

Smart Plus accounts that clients opened through the Ambassador Program before November 1, 2025 will be automatically converted to Smart Accounts. Clients will continue to receive the Exclusive Friends and Family Offer fee rebate, regardless of their average monthly balance, until the 2-year period is complete. There will be no impact to Exclusive Friends and Family Offers applied before November 1, 2025. A referral will only be valid if the person you refer identifies you during their application process. The CIBC Ambassador Program directs your career referrals to the existing Talent Scout program.

1. Your candidate will receive an email inviting them to apply to the posting you've shared.
2. Your candidate must list you as the referring employee in the “How did you hear about us — Referral: I know someone at this company” field.
3. After a candidate has completed their application, you can track their status in the “My Referrals” section within your Jobs Hub on Workday.
